Highlights from Isaiah 6:1-8:
6:1 – “I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of his garment filling the temple.”
– “The longer it is, the greater the king is, so the train must be like a mile long for God!”
6:2 – “Seraphim were stationed above; each of them had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they hovered.”
– “The seraphim are covering their eyes like people do at Mass, when they are going to their ‘inner room.'” (This is a reference to a Maxim of Jesus from Matthew 6:6.)
6:5 – “Then I said, ‘Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, living among a people of unclean lips.”
– “That’s like when we say, ‘I am not worthy’ at Mass.”
6:6-7 – “Then one of the seraphim flew to me, holding an ember which he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with it. ‘See,’ he said, ‘now that this has touched your lips, your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.'”
– “Touching his lips was like his first Confession.”
6:8 – “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said; ‘send me!'”
– “Then he says, ‘I’ll do whatever you want’ because he doesn’t have sin anymore so now he can’t ever really die.”
Catechist – “This is how God called Isaiah. How has God called you? Like this? With a great vision?”
– “No! He speaks to us in prayer.”
– “He tells me to love my mom and my dad, and my sister.”
– “He just calls you in your soul.”
– “He calls you by name.”
– “He calls you in the Sacraments.
Catechist – “When? Where?”
– “At church.”
– “Every second.”
– “Every moment.”
