Third Week of Advent: Joy

I must say, this week the children have truly been joyful. In the midst of a busy time of year, they arrive peaceful, well rested and happy to get to work. It wasn’t until today, in which I realized I never put up our “little Christmas Tree” in the environment. Furthermore, no one remembered it was even missing!
It is observed in the simplicity that is built within the nature of the child.  In Montessori, we often quote the child, “Help me do it by myself.” Children have the ability to focus on the simple task at hand and seemingly nothing distracts them from their work. This week, I observed this perfectly reflected in their peace and Joy. The child can reminds us, the adult, to slow down and keep focus as to what is essential.
