All Together

God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He’s so good to me.

This is a song we have been singing all week. We have been praising God for all of the wonderful blessings he has given us and continues to give us.

One particular blessing He has given us is the gift of finally all being together. After orientation and phase in, Monday, September 5th was our first full day together with all 18 children. It was a beautiful day.

Coming to school may be new for some children and families. It will take some time to get used to the new faces, schedule, transitions, procedures, rules, etc. It is important for us all to remember to be patient and take things one day at a time.

We have welcomed back ten returning children and eight new children. What a gift! The returning children have been so helpful with welcoming the new children to our environment. With having eight new children to the environment, we have been talking a lot about friendliness and what it means to be a friend. The children came up with great examples of what is means to be a friend and simple ways they can be friendly. Please continue this conversation at home with your child!

On Friday, we had the opportunity to talk with two firefighters, go inside of a fire truck, and learn about fire safety. The children were fascinated with the firetruck and learning more about what firefighters do. They even got to take home a tattoo and card about fire safety. Friday afternoon the Extended Day children enjoyed physical education from 2:15-2:55 with Dr. Bob Vaughn. The All Day children loved to play on the playground during this time as well. It was a beautiful fall afternoon with lots of smiles.

I have been busy giving many presentations the past few weeks. The children are so eager to learn. With all of the different ages, there are many presentations that are needed. Concentration and repetition are key to the Montessori environment. It’s important to not overload the child with too many presentations because too many choices can be overwhelming. Think of it as your closet. If your closet is full of a ton of clothes, finding something to wear can be difficult. However, if your closet is relatively small and confined, the choices are easier to make. During these first few weeks of school, observation is extremely important so I can gauge where each child is, what his/her needs are, and most importantly; get to know each child.

”The child is the beauty of God present in the world, that greatest gift to a family.”
